Fight Breaks Out in Parliament
PORT HAGAR- A Parliament vote over a controversial foreign trade bill turned to violence yesterday as old tensions resurfaced. 9 people were hospitalized, including 5 MPs, and the bill was destroyed in the fray. Damage is estimated at 950 gold denari, as 6 chairs, 4 microphones, and a table were wrecked.
The melee began with a debate in the High Senate between Lady Truyfien (C-GP) and Lord Khotir (L-AQ). The debate became more and more heated, and the attacks turned personal. When Truyfien insulted Khotir’s Islamic faith, he lunged at her, smashing her head against the podium. She then jabbed him in the eye with her pen. Supporters and friends of each rushed to their aid, while Moderates tried to break up the fight.
Other MPs from the Popular Senate, judges from the High Court, and bystanders rushed in to watch or participate. The Parliamentary Security forces were overwhelmed, and the Port Hagar Civic Prefects were called in to help. It was decided that Khotir will duel Truyfien for his honor once both have recovered sufficiently.
This has been the third fight in Parliament this year. It was also the seventh act of voilence in the government as a whole since January, the most recent being when the Minister of Finance punched the Minister of Internal Trade. “I sincerely hope this is not a growing trend,” said Madia Aungroet, Minister of Governmental Security. “It makes the government look like a bunch of violent fools, and accomplishes absolutely nothing. We are the laughing stock of the world.”

7 Dead, 16 Wounded in Rampage
On Friday, a Rheid in Qreawk Awar went on a shooting spree at Erwark Shopping Centre, leaving 7 dead and 16 more wounded. A clerk at jewellery store was able to call the police while hiding behind the counter. The killer, Dharaw Khraidets, was captured in a kisok. He is being kept under high security.
Dharaw faces charges of slaughter, assault, and posession of an unregistered firearm. He has a history of mental instability, though he has not shown violent tendencies in the past. His trial commences on the 15th of this month. If convicted, he will be sent to an asylum with maximum protection.
Friends and acquaintances of Dharaw do not have any ideas as to what may have encouraged him. In custody, he alternates between being calm and rational and flying into enraged frenzies. It is believed currently that the attack was triggered by a traumatic experience of some sort. Psychologists do not have any leads on what that may have been.

UNDREKHT LAUNCH MAJOR OFFENSIVE
WOODS END– A mile-wide swath of Bigtree, from Deadgrove all the way to the edge of the current capital, Wood’s End, has been completely ravaged. At 11:14 last night, an Undrekht force departed Deadgrove, leaving the trail of destruction behind them. Magi were able to erect some defences around Wood’s End, and a vast number of troops, sent in from around the country as last minute reinforcements, were able to defeat the oncoming enemy.
The current casualties are believed to be around 450, though bodies are still being discovered. Damage is estimated at 89 million gold dinaren. ”The taint won’t wear off on its own for about 20 years,” said Ruydan Telarius, Bigtree’s Environmental Minister. “With the use of magic, the Scar should be habitable within a year. Even then, it will be at least 200 years for the new growth to reach the height of the others around the province.”
Troops are being stationed throughout Bigtree and Port Hagar, in case the Undrekht decide to attack again. The Minister of Defence, Fruynas Lietren, said she did not believe there would be another offensive of this scale anytime soon. However, she feels it is best to increase the military presence in the area just to be sure.
The Prince Regent spoke in Wood’s End, to refugees from the areas around the Scar, as well as local residents. “The past 30 years have been very hard for Bigtree. There was the Great Fire during the war with Goldplain. There was the fall of Livegrove to the Undrekht 10 years ago, and the Plague 2 years ago. But the people of Bigtree have perservered. They have overcome every obstacle so far. And I can see already that this attack is no exception!”

Flags
Just for fun, I made three of the flags from these countries. Please excuse the crudeness.
Hagargentina:

Rheid Arawk:

Darklund:

Introductions: Miscellaneous
Here I will introduce various other nations/peoples, who are minor and will only show up periodically.
Undrekht
No one knows exactly WHAT the Undrekht are. They live deep underground on Terrana, in vast cavernous cities. They only venture above ground for an invasion, and only if the hole opens up for them. 15 years ago, the Undrekht conquered the city of Livegrove, Hagargentina, capital of Bigtree, when workers building a sewer reached their territory. The area around was tainted, much of the light was blocked out, and the life in the area (except for some fungi) all died. It has since been called Deadgrove All Hagargentinian offensives have met with disaster; when there are survivors, they have completely lost their sanity by the time they are rescued.
Luhrrgen
The Luhrrgen, ancient enemies of the Rheids, were also created by humans. They are slightly shorter than Rheids, much stronger, and much stupider. They are reptiles, and are voracious carnivores.
Merica
Merica, a dictatorship, is situated on a rugged island on Terrana. Much of the landscape is dotted by mines, with a vast railroad network connecting them. Though traditionally close allies of the Hagargentinians, their relationship is becoming strained. The Rheids and Mericans have a strong dislike for each other.
Darklund
Darks, as they are reffered to in English, have long been the outcasts of Terrana. They are closely related to Hagargentinians, descended from the same group of people. The Darks make their home in southern Terrana, in an inhospitable volcanic region. Many of the nations on Terrana have hesitantly initiated contact; Hagargentinians have wholeheartedly embraced them, and the two countries have been growing steadily closer. Some believe that the High Baroness of the Darks has sinister plans; most believe that this is not the case.
I believe I can start some articles now. More information, countries, species, and even a whole other planet will soon be added.
Introduction: Rheid Arawk
Qrawart Rheid Arawk (Confederated Kingdom of the Rheids)
Area: 11 million square miles
Population: 23.5 million
National Langauage: Rheid
Capital: Rheid Iwrek
Planet: Legutos
Rheids are a race of giant flightless birds, averaging about 120 feet in height. They are slightly more intelligent than humans, but are extremely logical and have greater difficulty grasping abstract concepts. They are believed to have been created by Legutan humans as a magic/genetics experiment. They became close to their creators, often working together on research projects. After the destruction of half of the planet by an uncontrolled magical release, they withdrew to a large remaining portion, now distrusting of humans. There, they divided into several clans, each centered around a major city, with each clan attempting to dominate the others. At first, there was a weak central government, until even that collapsed.
15 years ago, a descendent of the original royal family, Krewraq Iartad, was able to reunite the Rheids in the face of a possible invasion by a neighboring race, the Luhrrgen. The Rheids were barely able to hold the Luhrrgen off, and 2 major cities were destroyed.
It was just after this, the First Luhrrgen War, that a small ship (by human standards) arrived at Qreawk Awar, the largest city and capital at the the time. The Rheids considered it extremely bizzare. It was a small zeppelin, entirely white, with the crimson seal of Hagargentina on its side. The ship had departed Hagargentina for an exploration mission around Legutos. However, it had been badly damaged in an ætheromagical storm. The Rheids were faced with a conundrum. Should they kill the humans or help them? It was decided that the two leaders should meet. It has not been revealed what was disscussed during the meeting, but the Rheids and Hagargentinians have been incredibly close allies to date.
Hagargentinians helped to rebuild the ruins of the ancient Rheid capital of Rheid Iwrek. Many Rheids have immigrated to Hagargentina and vice versa. Rheids in Hagargentina are often employed for carrying loads and passengers in the colonies (they are paid and have benefits). Rheids have equal rights as humans under Hagargentian law. In Rheid Arawk, humans do jobs that require fine motor skills, such as craftsmen or artists (Rheids have no arms). Translators are also in high demand for each.
Rheids have also increased contact with the humans on Legutos. Rheid articles will come from The World, one of many popular English news magazines.
Introduction: Hagargentina
United Principality of Hagargentina
Area: 2.5 million square miles
Population: 31 million
National Language: Lentzic
Capital: Port Hagar
Planet: Terrana (Also colonies on Legutos)
Hagargentina is spread out over one large island, known as Greater Hagargentina, and a portion of mainland, Outer Hagargentina. Greater Hagargentina is divided into three provinces according to geography: mountainous Stonepeak, in the north; Goldplain, the highly fertile southeast; and Bigtree, a southwestern province consisting of a forest of giant trees (their size results from disaster in which large amounts of uncontrolled magical energy was released).
Though originally united, each of the three provinces broke off into independent nations, almost constantly at war with each other in every concievable combination. It was after the bloodiest battle in Hagargentinian history, at Filtun Rock, (in which the fighting went all three ways) the nation re-formed. A descendent of the original House of Hagar was found, and was installed as Crown Prince. He began the construction of an entirely new capital city, Port Hagar, and accepted the requests of the the three provinces of Outer Hagargentina to join the nation. He later abdicated, leaving the throne to his son, now 16, who has proven to be a remarkably popular ruler.
During the periods of internal strife, Hagargentina was completely shut off from the outside world. Only the occaisonal discovery of Hagargentinian artefacts, often from naval burials, kept Hagargentina from fading into myth. Once the country was united again, however, the Hagargentians rapidly rose to a powerful position on the international and even interplanetary levels. Hagargentina has one of the strongest economies on Terrana, and Port Hagar has become the largest location for international trade in the world. The Hagargentinian Royal Trading Company, owned by the Prince Regent, focuses much effort on supplying goods to more distant colonies and privateering from nations that threaten Hagargentina’s interests. There are also large manufacturing sectors based in Mountgard and Seg Valley, the capitals of Stonepeak and Goldplain, respectively.
Hagargentina runs primarily on steam, magic, steel, and money. Vast fleets of airships defend the skies, while the army pillages small, nearby countries.
Hagargentinian news will be articles from the Royal Daily, the nation’s only English language newspaper.
Feel free to merely skim or even ignore these introductory posts; however, they are important for understanding these articles.
