Fight Breaks Out in Parliament
PORT HAGAR- A Parliament vote over a controversial foreign trade bill turned to violence yesterday as old tensions resurfaced. 9 people were hospitalized, including 5 MPs, and the bill was destroyed in the fray. Damage is estimated at 950 gold denari, as 6 chairs, 4 microphones, and a table were wrecked.
The melee began with a debate in the High Senate between Lady Truyfien (C-GP) and Lord Khotir (L-AQ). The debate became more and more heated, and the attacks turned personal. When Truyfien insulted Khotir’s Islamic faith, he lunged at her, smashing her head against the podium. She then jabbed him in the eye with her pen. Supporters and friends of each rushed to their aid, while Moderates tried to break up the fight.
Other MPs from the Popular Senate, judges from the High Court, and bystanders rushed in to watch or participate. The Parliamentary Security forces were overwhelmed, and the Port Hagar Civic Prefects were called in to help. It was decided that Khotir will duel Truyfien for his honor once both have recovered sufficiently.
This has been the third fight in Parliament this year. It was also the seventh act of voilence in the government as a whole since January, the most recent being when the Minister of Finance punched the Minister of Internal Trade. “I sincerely hope this is not a growing trend,” said Madia Aungroet, Minister of Governmental Security. “It makes the government look like a bunch of violent fools, and accomplishes absolutely nothing. We are the laughing stock of the world.”

UNDREKHT LAUNCH MAJOR OFFENSIVE
WOODS END– A mile-wide swath of Bigtree, from Deadgrove all the way to the edge of the current capital, Wood’s End, has been completely ravaged. At 11:14 last night, an Undrekht force departed Deadgrove, leaving the trail of destruction behind them. Magi were able to erect some defences around Wood’s End, and a vast number of troops, sent in from around the country as last minute reinforcements, were able to defeat the oncoming enemy.
The current casualties are believed to be around 450, though bodies are still being discovered. Damage is estimated at 89 million gold dinaren. ”The taint won’t wear off on its own for about 20 years,” said Ruydan Telarius, Bigtree’s Environmental Minister. “With the use of magic, the Scar should be habitable within a year. Even then, it will be at least 200 years for the new growth to reach the height of the others around the province.”
Troops are being stationed throughout Bigtree and Port Hagar, in case the Undrekht decide to attack again. The Minister of Defence, Fruynas Lietren, said she did not believe there would be another offensive of this scale anytime soon. However, she feels it is best to increase the military presence in the area just to be sure.
The Prince Regent spoke in Wood’s End, to refugees from the areas around the Scar, as well as local residents. “The past 30 years have been very hard for Bigtree. There was the Great Fire during the war with Goldplain. There was the fall of Livegrove to the Undrekht 10 years ago, and the Plague 2 years ago. But the people of Bigtree have perservered. They have overcome every obstacle so far. And I can see already that this attack is no exception!”

Introduction: Hagargentina
United Principality of Hagargentina
Area: 2.5 million square miles
Population: 31 million
National Language: Lentzic
Capital: Port Hagar
Planet: Terrana (Also colonies on Legutos)
Hagargentina is spread out over one large island, known as Greater Hagargentina, and a portion of mainland, Outer Hagargentina. Greater Hagargentina is divided into three provinces according to geography: mountainous Stonepeak, in the north; Goldplain, the highly fertile southeast; and Bigtree, a southwestern province consisting of a forest of giant trees (their size results from disaster in which large amounts of uncontrolled magical energy was released).
Though originally united, each of the three provinces broke off into independent nations, almost constantly at war with each other in every concievable combination. It was after the bloodiest battle in Hagargentinian history, at Filtun Rock, (in which the fighting went all three ways) the nation re-formed. A descendent of the original House of Hagar was found, and was installed as Crown Prince. He began the construction of an entirely new capital city, Port Hagar, and accepted the requests of the the three provinces of Outer Hagargentina to join the nation. He later abdicated, leaving the throne to his son, now 16, who has proven to be a remarkably popular ruler.
During the periods of internal strife, Hagargentina was completely shut off from the outside world. Only the occaisonal discovery of Hagargentinian artefacts, often from naval burials, kept Hagargentina from fading into myth. Once the country was united again, however, the Hagargentians rapidly rose to a powerful position on the international and even interplanetary levels. Hagargentina has one of the strongest economies on Terrana, and Port Hagar has become the largest location for international trade in the world. The Hagargentinian Royal Trading Company, owned by the Prince Regent, focuses much effort on supplying goods to more distant colonies and privateering from nations that threaten Hagargentina’s interests. There are also large manufacturing sectors based in Mountgard and Seg Valley, the capitals of Stonepeak and Goldplain, respectively.
Hagargentina runs primarily on steam, magic, steel, and money. Vast fleets of airships defend the skies, while the army pillages small, nearby countries.
Hagargentinian news will be articles from the Royal Daily, the nation’s only English language newspaper.
